Welcome to the eParticipation Forum of the Hellenic Parliament
Hellenic Parliament European Programs Implementation Service Profile
The Hellenic Parliament (HEP) is a political institution, a representative instrument in which are exercised principally the legislative operations and the control of the government (Parliamentary control). The gradual metamorphosis of the Parliament from a representative instrument in charge of legislative work, to a modern, complex political and organizational democratic institution is a reality today. The Parliament is also involved in various projects ranging from educational to cultural. For the improvement and the modernization of the parliamentary work in accordance with European standards, there are five main services that support the Parliament's function as a modern political and organizational instrument of the democratic regime.
These are:
- The General Directorate of Parliamentary Work.
- The General Directorate of Administrative Support.
- The General Directorate of International Relations and Communication.
- The Scientific Service of the Parliament, and
- The European Programs Implementation Service (EPIS).
The main objective of EPIS is the coordination and implementation of projects that fall within the Community Support Framework and European Funding Programs, on behalf of HEP, as well as, the financing of the Independent Authorities that participate in European Programs.
The E.P.I.S. consists of:
- The Project Implementation Directorate
- The European Documentation Center, at departmental level
- The Liaison Office of the Hellenic Parliament at the European Parliament.
EPIS is managing the following projects in ICT sector funded by Community Support Framework:
- Advanced e-government service for the Hellenic Parliament
- Users Training for the Portal of the Hellenic Parliament
- Advanced e-government services for the Hellenic Parliament
- Business Process Reengineering of the Hellenic Parliament for the provision of the new electronic services.
- Technical Assistance for EPIS ERP implementation
- Documentation, digitalization and exploitation of the Hellenic Parliament Library‘s Collections
LEX-IS (Enabling Participation of the Youth in the Public Debate of Legislation among Parliaments, citizens & Businesses in the European Union) funded by EC E-participation 2006. HEP is supporting the E-participation projects the forthcoming years as end-user, having the intention to improve the legislative process, enriching the citizens involvement in most decision making stages.
